How the job goes

How a new installation job goes.

Every step below is how this service runs when we do it, no surprises on the invoice.

  1. 01

    On-site walk-through

We come out, measure the yard, note the pressure at your spigot, and map every zone before we quote a number. Free.

  2. 02

    Zone-by-zone design

Head spacing is planned for full coverage, no dry corners, no double-watered strips against the sidewalk. Beds and lawn run on separate zones.

  3. 03

    Trenching & pipe

Trenches are cut with a vibratory plow so the sod goes back down clean. Poly pipe below the frost line, wire pulled to every valve.

  4. 04

    Controller & valves

Rain Bird or Hunter controller wired inside the garage or basement, valves in below-grade boxes we can service later without digging up the lawn.

  5. 05

    Same-day finish

Most residential yards are trenched, plumbed, wired, tested, and cleaned up in a single day. We walk you through the controller before we leave.

  6. 06

    First year covered

The first winterization in October and first spring start-up in April are included with the install under the 1-year warranty.

Common questions

Common questions about new installation.

These are the questions we actually get about this service, not a generic FAQ pasted onto every page.

Will you tear up my lawn?
We use a vibratory plow that slits the ground and pulls the pipe through, so the sod lifts and drops back into place. Two weeks after the install you can barely tell where the trenches were.
How long does an install take?
Most quarter- to half-acre residential lots are one day. Larger properties, commercial sites, or yards with heavy hardscape can run two.
Do I need a permit or backflow inspection?
Yes, new systems tie into your potable water and require a backflow preventer that gets tested and filed with the city. We install it, test it, and file the paperwork the same week.
Rain Bird or Hunter, which do you use?
Both. We spec whichever line has the head, valve, or controller that fits the yard. We stay with those two brands because replacement parts are still on the shelf ten years later.
